She picked a name. And gave us a mascot :)

Akari reportedly refers to light (a light, lamplight, brightness, illumination).  She wanted something to do with "sparks", wanted it to be a Japanese word.  Once she figured that out, she knew she wanted a firefly for a mascot.  Meet Hotaru the Firefly.  My goal in all of this was to find a way to let her light shine, find a way to re-ignite her love of learning, so hopefully this is the start of a very bright future.

We're currently cleaning up the school room, reviewing a history & science curriculum, and preparing for Monday to be our first day of school.  See you soon!
