LA:
- OYAN lessons. She's working on undeserved misfortune, character flaws, character power (not superpower, to her disappointment), etc. She is learning that there is so much more to a good story than meets the eye. She continues to read an adventure novel each week and identifies the elements that need to go into her story in each one of those.
- Grammar, writing lessons
- Finished up with In Search of Shakespeare documentary
- Read more of And Then There Were None
Math:
- Metric system and decimals, estimating percentages (known and unknown amounts)
- Spent some time this week on using the known to make an educated guess on the unknown (resulted one day in a spontaneous game of Clue to put the concepts to use. Been waiting years to have a fair game of Clue :) She's really getting the hang of this, now!)
Social Studies:
- Still working our way thru the Constitution
- Attended Thunder on the Border at Missouri Town and learned about the Jayhawkers, hiding food/silver, doing laundry in a pot, how the blacksmith made a striker and what an apprenticeship entailed, how peanuts and asparagus grow, why they call it THUNDER on the Border...
Science:
- Molecules, Matter, Labs, Quiz
Non-Core:
- Japanese--vocab, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, grammar (wow, I wish I could pick this up as quickly!); also watching an online series called Irrashai (sp?)
- Finished up with Tchaikovsky
- Choir
- Health/PE: Skating!
Up next week: Salem Witch Trials!
